5 Must Play Teams In Football Manager 2023 | Challenging Teams To Play In Fm 23

With Football Manager 2023 releasing soon (8th November) its a great time to decide what team you will manage when it finally releases. Here are 5 teams that will be challenging on Fm23.

1. AC Monza

Ac Monza is an Italian team who have just been promoted to the first division. This is the first time Monza has been in Serie A, which breaks their record for the most number of years at the second level. Over Monza's entire clubs history they have never played at the highest level, after 40 seasons in Serie B.

Monza is a team that has had its fair share of issues including 2 bankruptcies, the last of these was in 2015. The club was brought by former Ac Milan president Silivio Berlusconi and former CEO of Milan Adriano Galliani was added to the board of directors in 2018.

This is a team to manage that will have many ups and downs, ranging from having minimal wage and transfer budgets all the way to winning the Serie A for the first time. Monza has been predicted to fall short in their first visit to Serie A and will inevitably be relegated, this will be the first challenge you face.

Buona Fortuna!!

2. Casa Pia AC

Casa Pia have just been promoted in the first division of Portuguese football. This is only the second time Casa has been in the top flight and they'll be hoping to have a better season than their 1938/1939 season were they only got 2 points from a potential 42, which is a record for least points in the Portuguese first division.

Casa Pia will be a tough challenge, but goals of staying in Liga Nos and taking this team to win the league and compete in European football will make this a fun team to manage. Casa Pia is also strongly linked with charity work in Portugal, so its a team with a great background and a team you will happily have your name linked to.

Boa sorte!!

3. Bordeaux FC

Bordeaux who get relegated last season, now play in the 2nd division of French football. Bordeaux are suffering from a bad financial situation which saw the relegated team drop from the first division all the way to the 3rd division of French football, before they appealed and won. Which means Bordeaux will start their season in Ligue 2, below their arch rivals in Toulouse, which the fans will want this rectified in the short term.

Bordeaux will be a challenge around the uneasy in finances at the club, but the team still has great players, excellent youth facilities and great training facilities. You will probably have no issue getting Bordeaux out of Ligue 2 but this is where the challenge begins, trying to beat your rivals in Toulouse as well as keeping up with the financial giants of PSG. This is a redemption challenge that will be great fun in fm23.

Bonne Chance!!
4. Oldham Athletic AFC
Oldham Athletic will prove to be one of the toughest challenges in Football Manager 2023. Having been the first Premier League team to get relegated into non-league football, Oldham will desperately want to get the record straight and start moving forward again.

Oldham are a team in bad financial state, have poor upper management, terrible facilities (even for non-league football standards) and a team of players who don't have much ability. This truly will be a tough challenge in Fm 23.

Can you give glory back to the Latics and start from the bottom to give the fans premier league glory again. This will be a long term save that many of us will fail at but a fun save none the less. A way to make this challenge even tougher is to use a manager without any badges and is a Sunday league standard manager.

Good luck!!

5. FC Astra Giurgiu

The final team on this list has fallen from grace just like Oldham but in a much worse way. Astra is a team some of you will recognize as the team who knocked West Ham out of Europa League qualifying in 2015 (4-3)

Astra is from the Romania league who used to play in the first division and even played in Champions League Qualifiers in 17/18 season. But the club faced major financials issues, where the players weren't given their pay either sent the club down a spiral of absolute despair. The Owner was then sentenced to jail for money laundering, followed shortly by 3 of the teams stars for getting banned for doping. This spiral of destruction has left Astra in the 3rd division of Romanian football (Romanian third league group 4) and fans that hope to return to the top of Romanian Football and European football.

This is a major challenge that will make you face major financial issues, facilities being below standard and the rules of Romanian match squads. This is a save that will put the best of you to the test and the rest of us in the mud, get glory back to Astra.

Mult Noroc!!
